Just Desserts?

No not just desserts the food, but Just Desserts the book by Barbara Bretton is a romantic fantasy is about a baker that runs her own shop and raises her daughter alone, and that's just the way she wants it. What she doesn't see coming is that she unknowingly is the daughter of a rock star that wants to meet her. His hidden agenda is covered up by his needing a cake and has heard hers are the best around for states on end.

Will Hailey the baker and her long estranged father rocker hit it off or will are they better off not knowing each other.

Will Hailey and her daughter Lizzie appreciate the riches of a famous father/grandfather or will they wish they never knew the truth?

Hailey befriends Finn the lawyer and they together find many things to appreciate together than a great cake!

In this last blog for the semester I must admit that my reading behaviors have changed due to the reading not being a choice of mine and that I have a minimum of 1 1/2 hours a week.

I love to read and am new to the blogging which I have had fun doing! With working 2 to 3 part time jobs, full time mom and school I find there is not much time to read for fun. I am thankful for the time that I get to read but yet some how this "have to" has affected the way I feel about "leisure" reading. It did take away some enjoyment but at the same time I am grateful that I had to make time!

Thanks for reading my blogs and good luck to you all in the future!
Happy Holidays!

Thanks Giving Break

Thanks Giving was a time for family and reflection, games, food and relaxation!
I have so much to be thankful for, to make a list would take some time!
I have enjoyed the break and now am getting caught up on home work including my PRABE Blog.

Last week and this week I have enjoyed reading  Fern Michael's book; Game Over.
This book of sassy characters and sneaky endeavors provide laughs, tears, and mind boggling and sometimes hard to follow quests and turns. This book is a sequel to the sisterhood novels and I have not read them before, I find it a little confusing to jump in the middle of a series and get the full understanding and motifs of the characters. All in all I have enjoyed the book but will locate the first of the series and begin at the start.

I have enjoyed this weeks 90 minutes and look forward to finishing the book this next week:)

Until next time!

Welcome Holidays!

With my favorite season...Fall..... also comes the Holidays that I value so much!
Not only do I drag out the warm clothes from the bottom of the closet but out comes the Christmas Tree and the Holiday Cookbooks.
I found my favorite German Cookbook and the story of German cooking that comes along with it.
Cooking of Germany printed in 1969 by Nika Standen Hazelton delves deep into the history of Germany and its' changes after war. While it is evident that the country changed and the damaged rebuilt the tradition and beliefs of the German people were never so strong.
This book is a treasure and inspiring to read about my heritage of my family. The Holiday Season is a time of reflection and celebration of times past and the future.
I am thankful for so many things that I don't even know where to begin!
I close my eyes and begin......I am thankful for the wind blowing and the crackling leaves, the chill of the air, the bustle of squirrels burying their nuts, and this is just in 5 seconds!
I am thankful for the classes and the professors that make learning enjoyable and meaningful. I appreciate the 90 minutes each week that I get to enjoy reading what I want too.
God Bless and may you have a great Fall and Holiday Beginning:)

Girlscout camp weekend!

This weekend I shared many songs with girlscouts across Kansas at Starwoods camp near Clearwater Kansas. We had a great time around the camp fire sharing and learning new songs.
It is times and traditions as this that keeps girls connected and enjoying 100 years of  traditions of the American Girlscout.
Starwoods camp leaders compiled a song book of the new songs that were taught around the campfire and the weekend activities!
Way to go girl scouts!

Oprah Winfrey says Thank You!

This week I have enjoyed reading the Oprah Magazine Celebrating 25 unforgettable years of the Oprah Winfrey Show.

I loved watching Oprah! Oprah was funny, smart, and a wonderful leader that everyone loved to talk too.

This 90 minutes of reading was enjoyed in front of the fire place and wrapped in a blanket. Yes, here in Kansas we have seen the beginning of Wintery weather. 50's at night and 30's when you wake up.

Oprahs magazine shared highlights, wonderful photos, and interviews with people behind the scenes, interviews and highlights with people like Dr. Phil, Celine Dion, Karen Campbell, and her amazing adventures in Australia.

I really enjoyed her special magazine this week. Thanks for a great read!

Reading is only part of the pleasure this week:)

This has been a beautiful fall week! I have read at least the 90 minutes and then some I am sure! I have enjoyed reading at the park, under a big oak with my cat LuLu! She loves the outdoors and living in an apartment without a kitty door (aka doggy door) has put a damper on her social activities!
This weeks reading reveals that the pregnant wife of Bruce Peyton has been found by Bruce himself and he is going to see her. Will this meeting be welcomed? I don't think so! She didn't want to be found and was hoping to not have confrontations with her stepdaughter whom thinks this baby is mistake and that she does not want her stepmother Rachel back at home any more than she wants back in that enviroment!
Back in the kitchen of Charlotte we find that she caused the fire due to her forgetting to turn the oven off. Charlotte is becoming more forgetful daily and this is worrying her family terribly. Her daughter is beginning to think that she has the beginnings of Alzheimers.
What a great week for reading under a tree!
